About the Area

Playa Grande is located on the northern Pacific coast in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica.  Renowned for its consistent surf and nesting site of the rare Leatherback turtle, much of the area is protected as part of Las Baulas National Park.

Playa Grande is a small, friendly beach community with residents from all over the world who truly embrace the Costa Rican ‘pura vida’ lifestyle.  It is the perfect relaxation getaway.  Restaurants, bars, surf shops, laundry service and mini-supermarket located in town.

Across the estuary lies Playa Tamarindo, a tourist Mecca where you will find a multitude of restaurants, shops, bars, discos and of course more surf. So while you are here on your retreat, you have access to the “city” and the serenity and seclusion of Playa Grande.

Besides our beaches, there is plenty to explore in and around the area, with activities such as kayaking, zip-line canopy tours, mountain biking, scuba diving, turtle-watching and horseback riding just minutes away.
